With the unveiling of Balenciaga‘s Fall 2015 offerings, Alexander Wang unveiled his fourth collection for the revered French fashion house, showcasing minimalist silhouettes and a neutral color palette, one inspired by mineral landscapes and concrete and utterly devoid of color.
A studied asceticism was the order of the day, with Wang paying tribute to founder Cristóbal Balenciaga through a series of wool cocoon coats, their plackets concealed and seams obscured to place the emphasis on simple lines and forms. Elsewhere, a jacquard wool sweater and windowpane checks added a textural component to the mix, maintaining an aesthetic in which luxury is purely conveyed and free of artifice.
