KITH owner and sneaker designer, Ronnie Fieg released the “Sakura” shoe from his latest collaboration with Puma, titled “The Sakura Project.” Ronnie has teamed up with Puma before, but this time around he is taking his design international. This release will be exclusively sold at theKITH Pop-Up shop in United Arrows & Sons Shibuya flagship store in Tokyo March 20-23.
The project will mark the introduction of creator’s new mid-top silhouette, RF698 Mid. The ombre colour run detail of both shoes were inspired by the Japanese cherry blossom (know as Sakura in Japan) well-suited an opening during Tokyo Fashion Week and Sakura Blossom Festival. Both styles will include three lace options and custom packaging. From KITH:
The R698 represents the beginning of this natural phenomenon, as it displays a light color palette. The upper is made from microperforated pigskin suede, which is colorblocked burgundy on the toe box, light pink amidst the quarter panels, and white for the vamp and collar. The lateral formstripe is scythed, thus exhibiting a petal-like effect. The Trinomic midsole unit features a soft gradient to complement the upper.
The RF698 Mid stands on the other side of the seasonal transition, utilizing a darker execution. This Ronnie Fieg-helmed silhouette updates the R698 by heightening it, while retaining its trainer sensibilities. The mid-cut collar features horizontal quilting, while a neoprene inner-sock is supplemented for the tech liner. The upper features a navy microperforated nubuck toe box, and a rich burgundy microperforated pigskin suede body. The Trinomic midsole unit displays a navy-to-white gradient, as well as a dual-colored splatter effect. The medial formstripe is navy 3M, adding panache to this daunting model.
